Xanadu is building the world’s first practical quantum computer. Instead of using electrons to carry information and perform calculations, the company uses photons – particles of light – to perform extremely fast and complex computations at room temperature.

Most quantum computers in development require enormous chambers where specialized chips are cooled to just above the coldest possible temperature. Xanadu’s chips aim to generate quantum effects on a thumbnail-sized chip at room temperature. The end result is a more commercially viable and scalable quantum computer.
